Victorian Era British Army Buff Belt Attributed to the Royal Irish Fusiliers

$200.00

The buff leather belt is approximately 32 inches long in its present configuration, adjustable to shorter or longer lengths. The belt shows typical signs of age and use, with spots and soiling but without damage. The two piece brass buckle exhibits uncleaned patina. The interior of the buckle bears the handwritten initials of “A.W.” as well as the number “546”, resulting in this belt being attributed to Private Arthur Watson, service number 546, who served in the Royal Irish Fusiliers and participated in campaigns in the Sudan in 1884. The belt is accompanied by several pages of research on the service of Private Watson.
