The group is comprised of a large portrait photograph, two belt plates, and documents relating to Captain G.A. McL. Sceales of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The group includes a large portrait photograph of Sceales in full uniform. The photograph was taken on Malta and it is approximately 7-3/8 inches by 13 inches. The photograph is quite clear, with a chipped lower corner and some abrasions on the reverse side. On his uniform Sceales wears two campaigns medals with clasps, these being the Queen’s
South Africa Medal with four clasps and the King’s South Africa Medal with two clasps. The group further includes the waist belt plate and the cross belt plate of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Both plates are in excellent condition, with the cross belt plate being manufacturer marked on the reverse. The group also includes multiple documents relating to Sceales’ service in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during the period which includes the Boer War in which he served. Overall the components of the group are in very good condition.
