US Army Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer’s Sword
$295.00
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 35 inches. Approximately one-half of the blade on each side bears etched decorations of an open winged eagle and a “U.S.” designation. The ricasso is marked by the Harding Uniform & Regalia Company of Boston. The blade is generally bright, with darker mossy spots on each side of the lower third of the blade. The wooden grip is covered in leather which is wrapped with a strands of twisted brass wire. The leather covering shows typical scuffs, and the grip exhibits a crack on each side, from the ferrule up into the grip, but the grip remains complete and intact. The clamshell guard on the sword is non-folding. The clamshell, the knuckle guard, and the pommel all exhibit a dark and uncleaned patina. The steel scabbard is a three ring example, and the scabbard shows some loss of the plating and an overall patina.
