The exterior of the untouched helmet retains most of its cork infused olive green paint, while showing typical scuffs, scratches and abrasions, with some spots of rust. The helmet has a set of U.S. Army Captain’s rank insignia affixed to the front. The airborne liner is a Westinghouse model. The full web chin strap is intact, as is the full airborne liner system with fabric chin cup. One of the interior liner crown straps is broken. The metal components of the liner and the chin strap show significant verdigris. One of the interior liner straps bears the handwritten initials of “EGP”. Overall the helmet exhibits great character as a field used airborne combat helmet and it is in very good condition.
