Untouched Rear Seam, Swivel Bale, M1C Airborne Paratrooper Combat Helmet with Painted Unit Insignia

The exterior cork infused, olive drab paint is largely intact, showing some scuffs and relatively minor scrapes and chips, but exhibiting surface dirt, dust, and an uncleaned patina. Both sides of the helmet carry a painted unit insignia of the 17th Airborne artillery . The insignia features a blue spearhead on a white shield. The insignia is properly configured on each side so that the “attacking” spearhead is angled to the front of the helmet. The interior of the helmet front bears an impressed heat stamp of “1190 1” (please note that the photograph of the heat stamp was taken after talcum powder was applied to the interior to make the heat stamp visible in the photograph, and the powder was easily removed after the photograph was taken). The helmet shell interior shows spots of rust. The interior paratrooper helmet liner is a Westinghouse model which shows wear and use and which, like the helmet shell, is in an uncleaned and untouched state. Overall the helmet is in excellent condition. In addition to the yellow fabric airborne chin strap and cup, the helmet retains its full olive drab chin strap which is affixed to the swivel bales. Overall the helmet is in very good condition and shows great character.
