Untouched Cased 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class by Alois Rettenmaier

The silver frame has a dark, untouched patina, as does the beading of the frame. The matte black paint on the iron core is completely intact. The back of the cross is bright, that side having been protected from the air by the interior of the case and thus being untarnished. The back of the cross bears the LDO designation of “L/59, indicating manufacture by the firm of Alois Rettenmaier. The interior lid of the case has the “LDO” designation of the “Leistungs Gemeinschaft der Deutscher Ordenshersteller”, or “Administration of German Orders Manufacturers”.  The exterior of the case shows some relatively minor scuffing.
