U.S. Marine Corps Model 1874 McKeever Cartridge Box

The cartridge box shows age, with some flaking of the leather surfaces. The cover flap bears an impressed “USM” designation. The interior fabric cartridge loops are present. The brass components show patina and verdigris. The closure flap bears the imprint of the Watervliet Arsenal. The closure flap is no longer attached to the rear of the box as a result of the loss of the stitching at the base of the flap, but the flap remains present. Similarly, the base of one of the belt attachment loops on the reverse has also lost its stitching but, again, the belt loop remains present on the box. Overall the box is in good condition.
