Two Named and Cased WWII Purple Hearts to a U.S. Army Ranger

$2,450.00

The group is comprised of two World War II Purple Heart decorations, both with slot brooch suspensions and both cased and named to “Joseph F. Brablc”. Both cases contain the ribbon bar, the enamel lapel badge, and two lengths of ribbon. One of the Purple Hearts was privately hand engraved while the other was officially engraved by the government. It is likely that Brablc was awarded an unnamed Purple Heart when he was in hospital for his combat wound and that he subsequently had this decoration engraved, while also then having been sent a Purple Heart that was officially engraved. The group further includes Brablc’s Army Good Conduct Medal, unnamed as awarded, on a slot brooch suspension with enamel lapel badge; and a screw back infantry branch collar disk. The group is accompanied by several pages of research which identify Brablc as having served as a Private First Class with Company “E” of the U.S. Army 5th Ranger Battalion (a roster of the company, printed from the internet, misspelled his name as “Brable” rather than “Brablc”). The cases in which the decorations are contained show age and surface spots. Overall excellent condition.
