Triple Etched Sword of the 61st (2nd Grand Ducal Hessian) Field Artillery Regiment by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie (WKC)

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 37-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 32 inches. The blade is generally quite bright, with an etched unit designation along one half the length of one side, decorative etching on the opposite side, and etching on the spine. The ricasso is marked beneath the langet with the King anf Knight helmet logo of the firm of Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie . The grip is sharkskin wrapped with wire, and while the material shows age and wear, both the material and the wire wrap are complete and intact. The guard shows loss of finish and surface rust. The plated scabbard exhibits speckling of the plating along its length on both sides.
