The cream colored shako exhibits scuffs and scratches to the exterior, while also lacking the attachment lug for the chin strap on the left side. The gilt attachment lug is present on the right side of the shako, and the large gilt police eagle remains present on the front of the shako. The chin strap is missing, as is the national colors cockade. The interior leather liner is intact, while lacking the drawstring. The interior of the crown is maker marked by the Robert Lubstein firm with their name and the brand mark of “Erel”. The shako interior is also marked as a size 55-1/2. The shako is an exceptionally scarce piece of headgear in overall very good condition and making an impressive appearance.
