Third Reich Motorized Gendarmerie Motorcycle Crash Helmet by Erel

The helmet is “vulcan fiber” construction with leather ear and neck flaps, and an aluminum police eagle affixed to the front. The body of the helmet shows spots, while the padded leather protective bar that surrounds the helmet shows scuffs, as well as abrasions and cracks to the leather surfaces. The one piece protective ear and neck flap shows loss of the surface leather as well as abrasions, but it is generally complete and intact. The right side of the helmet retains the portion of the chin strap which has the fastening buckle, while the left side of the helmet has lost the corresponding fastening strap with holes that would have been fitted into the buckle to secure the helmet on the head of the rider. The interior has the full liner, whicb bears the “Erel” stamp on one side, while the interior crown has the woven “Erel” label of the headgear firm of Robert Lubstein.
