The exterior of the helmet exhibits a matte black painted surface, while the interior shows gloss blue-black paint. The exterior shows scuffs and spots of surface rust, but overall the paint is approximately 90 percent intact. The full interior liner is present, as is the chin strap. The liner is marked as a size 58. The liner retains five leather tabs for the attachment of the protective leather neck drape worn by the fire police.
