Third Reich Customs Official Lion Head Officer Sword by WKC with Triple Engraved Blade

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 37 inches, with a blade length of approximately 30-1/2 inches. The ricasso bears the knight helmet logo and “WKC” designation of the firm of Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie., this sword being model number “1016” as shown in two WKC sales catalogs, and designated as the “Zollbeamten-Säbel” (Customs Official’s Saber). The blade has etched decorations on both sides and on the spine. One side of the blade has a panel within the etch which has the designation of “2/A.K. 69”.  The blade shows some spots, smudges and surface grime, but overall it is in very good to excellent condition. The obverse langet displays a short wing, political style, eagle. The pommel is a lion head style with faceted red glass eyes. The grip is without chips or cracks, and it remains triple wrapped with wire, although several of the strands are slightly loose. The entire hilt assembly shows a darker and uncleaned patina. The exterior of the scabbard shows spots of rust, with the paint being approximately 70 percent intact.
