Third Reich Cavalry Regiment Unit Identified NCO/Officer Sword by Alcoso with Etched Blued Panels and Portepee
$3,250.00
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 39 inches, with a blade length of approximately 33 inches. Both sides of the sword have etched segments approximately 14-3/4 inches long, with both of those sections having blued panels. One of the panels bears the unit designation of “Kavellerie Regiment 14”, while the blued panel on the opposite side depicts mounted cavalry troopers. The etched embellishments on either side of the blued panels include panoplies of arms which depict a German steel helmet with Third Reich insignia. The embellishments also include a closed wing army style eagle and swastika on one side and an open winged political style eagle and swastika on the opposite side. The spine of the blade is also etched, showing a leaf design. The ricasso bears the trademark of the Alcoso firm. A red felt washer is in place at the top of the blade. The blade is quite bright and in excellent condition. The black celluloid grip has a small chip at the top beneath the pommel. The grip remains tightly wrapped in twisted brass wire. The plated guard, pommel, knuckle bow and back strap show patina and some speckling of the plated finish, primarily on the back strap. The portepee exhibits age but it is complete and intact. The scabbard shows wear to the black paint with some spots of rust. Overall very good condition.
