Third Reich Army Officer Lion Head Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 38 inches, with a blade length of approximately 30-1/2 inches. The blade shows some spots and scratches, but it is generally quite bright. The celluloid grip has a chip at the interior top area beneath the pommel. The grip remains tightly triple wrapped with brass wire. The pommel is a lion head design, with faceted red glass eyes. The top of the pommel exhibits hand finishing, with the pommel screw having been scored to blend it with the mane of the lion’s head. Both the knuckle guard and the back strap have a fine oak leaf design. The entire hilt assembly shows an uncleaned patina. The scabbard shows areas of paint loss with spots of rust.
