Sterling Pin Back 3-1/2 Inch WWI Army Air Service Aviator Wing

The wing is multi piece construction, with a separately applied gold “US” on the central shield. The wing reflects superb detail and very high quality production, with a fine beaded border on the top edge of the wing, while each of the feathers of the wing is separately cut out and distinct. The reverse is marked as “Sterling” and it has a drop in safety catch fastener. The wing has a dark and uncleaned patina and it is an impressive wing in excellent condition.
