G.I. Souvenir Japanese Helmet and Canteen

The Type 90 Japanese combat helmet had the liner removed and was then painted with a dramatic Rising Sun decoration, with the G.I painting the locations of his service, including places such as Guadalcanal. The canteen was painted in the identical fashion of a Rising Sun motif but without the place names. The helmet retains approximately 80% of the painted decoration. The canteen retains its stopper as well as the fabric harness, which was also painted.
