Small WWII “Seabees” G.I. Souvenir Japanese Personal Good Luck Flag

$150.00

A nice example of a so-called “Seabees Flag”, a “signed Japanese flag” that was actually created by Americans (often thought to have been U.S. Navy Seabees personnel) for sale or trade to rear echelon troops who were not getting the chance to acquire a genuine signed Japanese flag on the front lines. The artificial silk flag is approximately 18 inches by 20 inches. It bears signatures, shrine stamps, and the declaration of “Eternal Good Fortune in Combat”, no doubt copied from an actual captured flag. Two corners have cord ties. The flag shows typical spots and a few small holes.
