Silver Star Group with Dog Tags and Named Trench Art

The First World War medals, dog tags, and named trench art souvenirs of Joseph V. McIntyre, who served in a supply company of the 61st Infantry Regiment in the 5th Infantry Division. The group is comprised of the following items:
– McIntyre’s medals and decorations: Silver Star decoration, split brooch, by Bailey, Banks and Biddle, numbered 5681 on the edge and officially hand engraved “Joseph V. / McIntyre” on two lines. The medal is within its original Bailey, Banks and Biddle box which has a Philadelphia quartermaster label on the end with the number “5681” written on the label; World War I Victory Medal, with campaign bars for “St. Mihiel”, “Meuse-Argonne” and “Defensive Sector”. The suspension broach has separated from the top of the ribbon but it is still present with the group. The group also includes a well worn, European made ribbon bar for the Victory Medal with two campaign stars; the Pennsylvania state Medal for federal service in World War I. This medal comes with its original box and ribbon bar; and the French Verdun Medal in its original box.
– Two sets of dog tags, one of which is marked simply with McIntyre’s name, “U.S.A.”, and service number of 2385648, and which is on its original cord; the other set also carries McIntyre’s name and the same service number but it is also marked “Wagner[sic] Supply Co. 61st Inf.”. These tags are on their original neck chain.
– Two examples of trench art shell casings, each being extensively engraved with floral designs and the name “Joseph McIntyre”. The casings are each about 3 inches in diameter across the base and 6 1/2 inches tall.
