Signed Showa Era Katana in Leather Combat Scabbard Cover
$1,500.00
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 40 inches, with a blade length of approximately 25-1/2 inches. The blade shows minor spots and minor scratches, with scattered tiny and barely visible nicks on the cutting edge. The blade is generally bright and it shows a visible and distinct temper line. The tang has a single mounting hole and the tang is signed “Noshu-ju Kanemasa”, and displays a Shows stamp. The grip is covered in sharkskin and it is wrapped in the traditional fashion with brown fabric which exhibits some soiling from handling. Beneath the fabric on each side of the grip are figural menuki. The tsuba guard is a square iron example with an expanding ray design on both surfaces. The lacquered wooden scabbard is within a brown leather combat cover which shows expected scuffs and scratches from use in the field. Around the base of the grip is the leather collar with a snap which runs through an opening of the tsuba and fastens to the top of the scabbard cover. Overall very good condition.
