Signed Photo Postcard of Luftwaffe General Adolf Galland, Recipient of the Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds

Approximately 3-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches. The postcard is a wartime example with wartime signature. The reverse side was addressed to “Generalmajor Galland” in Berlin and it bears a note requesting his signature on the photograph, which was a request that he granted, then apparently mailing the signed postcard to the sender in Stuttgart. Excellent condition.

Galland was a Luftwaffe general and flying ace who served throughout the Second World War in Europe. He flew 705 combat missions, and fought on the Western Front and in the Defence of the Reich. On four occasions, he survived being shot down, and he was credited with 104 aerial victories, all of them against the Western Allies. From 1941 until January of 1945 Galland was the Commander o the Luftwaffe fighter forces. He survived the war and died at home in 1996.
