Short Police Dress Bayonet by Julius Krebs with Frog and Portepee

The short blade shows scratches and spots of rust as well as surface grime. The reverse ricasso bears the mark of the firm of Julius Krebs. The leather washer is in place at the top of the blade. The pommel and guard exhibit excellent detail. The wood grip plates are without chips or cracks. The grip bears an aluminum police eagle insignia which shows typical wear to the eagle’s chest. The black leather frog has loss of finish on the belt loop. The frog appears to have been brown leather, indicating use by a member of the Gendarmerie, with the front of the frog then being dyed brown for use by the Schutzpolizei. The scabbard has some scratches to the black paint. The police portepee has fraying on the edges of the strap above the slide.
