Schutzpolizei Police Officer’s Shako with Dress Plume

The exterior blue gray wool body of the shako is shows some relatively subtle tracking and a few tiny bits, with expected wear to the wool nap. The bullion cockade exhibits age toning, while the police eagle front plate and the pebbled fish scale chin strap both have an uncleaned patina. The front plate is a finely detailed officer quality example. The leather top displays age crazing with the front and rear visors have a few scuffs and edge chips. The full wide leather sweatband and the interior silk liner are intact. On the sweatband is written a size, which appears to be “57-1/2”. The black horsehair plume is present on the helmet. Overall very good condition, with the shako making a fine appearance.
