Schutzpolizei Major Tunic with Medals

$1,850.00

The tunic is tailored in distinctive blue green wool with brown collar and cuffs, piped in green to reflect service in the Schutzpolizei. The tunic carries the rank shoulder boards of a Major. Underneath the right shoulder board is a button for the wear of the police officer dress aiguillette. Sewn into the second buttonhole is the ribbon of the 1939 War Merit Cross Second Class. Above the left upper pocket is an 11 place ribbon bar which includes the ribbons for the 1939 Iron Cross Second Class; the Russian Campaign Medal; and the Third Reich Police Long Service Medal. The left breast of the tunic has four sets of loops for decorations and badges. The tunic has in these loops the 1939 Iron Cross First Class, which shows some wear and chips to the black paint and spots of rust – looks like a reproduction to me; the 1939 War Merit Cross First Class with Swords, zinc alloy composition; the 1939 Wound Badge in silver, zinc alloy composition, showing typical loss of some of the silver finish (the upper loop of the set for this medal is broken); and the numbered bronze SA Sports Badge (the upper loop of the set for this medal is also broken). On the left sleeve is a silver bullion police officer sleeve eagle. The tunic is fully lined, with the interior showing signs of wear and use. The tailor label in the collar is worn, with separations. The interior has a closure belt as well as a tailored opening for the wear of the police sword. The tunic has two small holes on the left breast area, but overall it is very clean and it makes an impressive appearance.
