“Scharnhorst” Pattern Panther Head Officer’s Sword with Triple Etched Blade and Portepee by Carl Eickhorn

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 39 inches, with a blade length of approximately 32 inches. The blade is triple etched, with decorative panels on two sides and with etch as well  on the blade spine. The blade exhibits spots and scratches, but overall it is quite bright. The Carl Eickhorn trademark is on the ricasso, and the leather washer is present at the top of the blade. The celluloid grip is without chips or cracks, and it remains tightly triple wrapped with wire. The hilt assembly is aluminum, with spots of wear to the gilt finish on the panther head pommel and the obverse langet, which displays a closed wing army style eagle. The panther head pommel has faceted red glass eyes. The portepee shows some wear to the leather strap and toning of the bullion ball. The gloss black paint of the scabbard has some relatively minor scratches and spots, but the scabbard paint is largely intact.
