SA Group Niederrhein Service Dagger by Ernst Pack & Sohne with Marching Hanger

Both sides of the blade show typical runner marks together with spots and stains, as well as indications of heavy sharpening on the edges. The motto has lost its interior burnish. The ricasso bears the maker mark of the firm of Ernst Pack & Sohne. The dark brown wood grip shows spots and minor indentations from carrying, with short cracks above and below the enamel SA runes button on the obverse side of the grip, as well as on the reverse side in the top center of the grip. The top reverse side of the grip also has a chip at one side. The grip is inset with a nickel eagle which has very good detail. The enamel SA runes button shows scratches, wear to the finish, and verdigris. The guards fit the grip well and show an uncleaned patina. The reverse side of the lower guard bears the “Nrh” mark of SA Group Niederrhein. The scabbard finish shows age, with wear to the finish and with the scabbard showing spots. The scabbard fittings, like the grip guards, exhibit an uncleaned patina. The brown leather hanger and the belt loop show wear but they are supple and intact. The leather strap to restrain the grip in place while marching is broken.
