Revolutionary War French Carbine or Fusil Bayonet
$300.00
Measuring 15 ¼ inches overall with a 2 1/16 inch socket and 12 inch blade, this
bayonet was painted silver a long time ago either to inhibit rust or for display. The
blade and socket are French in form though the blade has no fuller at the tip and the
socket is on the short side. The interior diameter at the muzzle is .85 inch. This is
likely made for a carbine or officer’s fusil from the period of 1754 through the
Revolution. Very good edge and point. The paint could be removed but definitely
gives the feeling of coming out of an early historical display in a G.A.R. hall or
something similar.
