Rare Named Size 68 WWI German Camouflaged M1916 Combat Helmet by Körting & Mathiesen
$1,500.00
The helmet was camouflaged with areas of green, light brown and dark brown, and with those areas being separated by wide black borders in accordance with the regulations of 1918. The exterior paint shows scuffs and abrasions consistent with use in the field. The liner is intact on the interior, with the “pillows” behind the leather tongues retaining their filling. The leather liner tongues are dry but complete. The drawstring is present. The chin strap is also present, being quite dry and cracked but intact. The rear interior rim has a name painted in the helmet which is not entirely legible. The interior of the helmet shell is marked “K & M 68”, reflecting a size 68 shell manufactured by the firm of Körting & Mathiesen, of Leutsch/Leipzig. Overall a quite rare helmet in very good condition.
