Rare Boxed 1941 Japanese Navy Porcelain Award Statue of Fleet Admiral Tōgō Heihachirō

$350.00

The white fine porcelain statue is approximately 7 inches tall. It is contained within its original box and it is in near mint condition, without chips or cracks. The award was given to sailors for their performance in annual tests of their skills on board ships of the Japanese Navy. The rear of the base bears the designation of “”Showa 16th Year [1941] Naval Test Award”. The base of the statue bears an impressed mark meaning “Made respectfully by Hattori”. In the 1930’s the recognition for the annual skills performance tests were iron plaques, but in 1940 the awards became porcelain statues. The wooden box shows age but it is complete and intact.
