The leather body of the helmet has a matte appearance with extensive crazing of the leather surface, the crazing being of a fine texture on the helmet shell and the front and rear visors having a mottled crazing of the surfaces. The front wappen reservist plate has a splendid muted and uncleaned appearance to the fire gilt finish, as does the fish scale chin strap and the spike. The interior leather sweat band exhibits some spots and there are a few small separations in the silk liner.
