The exterior surfaces of the leather helmet exhibits age crazing, but the helmet retains a fine polish and a very good shape. The helmet has a short brass spike and a leather liner, but the spike post has a decorative “pearl” design with star rivets on the spike base, with a brass “fish scale” chinstrap and an officer quality Prussian cockade on the right side. The brass front plate, the spike, the spike base, the front visor edge, and the rear spine all show an uncleaned patina. The interior liner remains in place and intact. Overall the helmet makes a very good appearance.
