Prussian Artillery Officer Kugelhelm

A fine example of the kugelhelm worn by an officer of the Imperial Prussian artillery. The front wappen plate and ball top both exhibit much of their original fire gilt finish. The brass fish scale chin strap is present, with the remains of old polish in the recesses. The exterior of the leather helmet is in generally excellent condition, with very little of the crazing that is typical of these helmets. There are a few spots on the front visor where the black finish has chipped, but the surface is not pitted and these spots could be easily touched up if desired. Both the Prussian and national officer cockades are present. The silk helmet liner is complete and intact, although there is a small area at the rear base where the lining has come detached. Overall the helmet is in very fine to excellent condition.
