Pre-WWI Japanese Artillery Short Sword with Scabbard

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 27-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 21 inches. The blade is generally clean, with scattered spots and a few very small and barely visible nicks on the cutting edge. There are indistinct markings on the ricasso. A leather washer remains in place at the top of the blade. The guard and the pommel retain most of their original finish. The wood grip plates exhibit scuffs and scratches but they are intact.
