Pancho Villa Period Mexican Clip Point Bowie Knife with Etched Blade

The knife has an overall length of approximately 16-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 10-5/8 inches. The blade bears the acid etched statement of “El valiente que me ataje, lo maudo aun largo viaje” (“The brave man who challenges me, I will send on a long trip”). The opposite side of the blade has the name and address of the knife maker in the Mexican city of Oaxaca: Guillermo Maldonado, located at Calzada Madero, number 91-1/2. This side of the blade depicts a scene of two hunters with dogs shooting a stag. The ricasso bears a collection inventory number. The blade retains its original tip. The blade shows scattered mossy spots while retaining clear and visible acid etch details. The knife has a toned bone handle which shows age and patina and exhibiting wear with typical age and stress lines. The brass eagle head pommel and the retention nut, as well as the ferrule and the guard, all show a dark and uncleaned patina. The grip and pommel are tight to the tang and overall the knife is in very good condition and it makes an impressive appearance.
