Painted Souvenir Japanese Civil Defense Helmet
A World War II Japanese Civil Defense helmet that was painted as a souvenir with the image of a military landing craft in the water, flanked by island palm trees. The boat appears to be an American LCM, or “Landing Craft Mechanized”. The helmet lacks the liner and chin strap. The painting covers the front half of the helmet. The interior rim has painted kanji as well as the number “23”.
