The framed original watercolor artwork is approximately 9 inches by 11-1/2 inches. The artwork is signed in the lower corner. The artwork has the caption of “Unserem Kameraden Uffz. Deffner zur Hochzeit mit den herzlichsten Gluckwunschenund Hats-und Beinbruch von der Gruppe 35”, which essentially translates to “To our Comrade, Uffzoffizier Deffner, on his wedding, with the warmest congratulations and wishes of good luck from Group 35” (the expression “Hats-und Beinbruch” is the German equivalent of the English good luck wish “break a leg”). The artwork is within an original period frame, with the label of a German frame shop on the reverse. The artwork shows some soiling of the base mat, but the colors remain excellent and the artwork is quite impressive.
