Order of the German Eagle 2nd Class With Swords: Godet

$1,475.00

A very fine example of the breast star of the Order of the German Eagle, with swords, indicating that the recipient was a foreign military officer. The star is in excellent condition. The white enamel of the cross is without chips or cracks. The decoration is made from silver gilt and the eagles are correctly attached between the arms of the cross at both the tips of the wings and at the wreaths. The pin bears the silver content mark of “900” as well as the Prasidialkanzlei number of “21”, indicating manufacture by the prestigious firm of Godet & Company in Berlin. From 1937 until 1943 there were six classes of the Order of the German Eagle and this breast star represented the second class of the Order. In 1943 the number of classes of the Order was expanded to nine, and this breast star then represented the fourth class.
