Official War Crimes Trials Photographs Set of Witness Ernst John von Freyend

$90.00

Each of the two photographs is approximately 1-3/4 inches by 3 inches. Freyend was a High Command Staff Officer who was present in the conference room when the bomb exploded on July 20, 1944, and who in fact carried Stauffenberg’s briefcase containing the bomb into the room. He survived the explosion. After surrendering with Field Marshal Keitel, he was briefly interned and interrogated by the Americans, who decided that he was not involved in military decision-making and acted mainly as Keitel’s valet. In the early 1950s, he became an employee of Gehlen Organization, West Germany’s version of the CIA.
