Officer Dagger of the Imperial Thailand Army Under Japanese Control

Rare Japanese produced fine quality dagger has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 16-1/4 inches, with a blade length of approximately 9-1/2 inches. The blade is quite bright, showing some scratches, spots, and just a bit of pitting on each side of the blade at the end of the fuller. The ray skin grip is without chips or cracks and it is tightly triple wrapped with brass wire. The elephant head pommel, guard and scabbard fittings all show a fine, uncleaned patina. The brass blade collar bears the number “791”, while the scabbard throat fitting bears the number “860”. The leather covering of the scabbard shows some scratches but is is intact. Overall the dagger is in excellent condition.
