The cap is constructed of a fine quality golden brown ribbed wool with a dark brown velvet cap band and light blue piping to reflect service at the Ortsgruppe level. The exterior surfaces of the cap have some subtle spots and surface soiling from age and use, but the body of the cap is without holes or damage. The surface of the leather visor exhibits spots and some dulling of the finish. The piping shows a few small spots where the material is worn through, but this is not particularly noticeable. The full interior leather sweatband is present, being somewhat stiff from age. The RZM tag remains present underneath the sweatband. The interior crown of the cap shows some spots and stains from wear, as the interior never had a celluloid sweat shield. The cap has an excellent saddle shape and it makes a fine appearance.
