NSDAP Gau Level Visor Cap
A really splendid example of the classic Form IV, 1939 pattern, of the visor cap of an official of the Nazi Party. The cap has a golden brown wool blend whipcord top with brown velvet cap band, piped in wine red for an official of the Gau level. The cap has a wonderful “saddle” shape, with a nearly complete celluloid sweat shield and the full RZM tag beneath the sweat band. The appearance of the interior of the cap shows that this was indeed worn by a Nazi Party official. The interior leather sweat band shows wear, and the fabric lining of the interior has come loose from behind the sweatband in the front of the cap, although the lining is complete. There are a few light spots on the exterior surfaces and a small dark spot on the bottom edge of the cap in the back. The brown leather visor has some light scratches. The gold bulion chin cord is beautifully toned. Overall the cap is in excellent used condition and makes an truly fine appearance.
