Nice Identified 3rd Cavalry Uniform Group

Large 1880’s-1890’s identified 3rd US Cavalry group ( which I bought directly from the family ) consisting of:

Cavalry Dress Tunic, interior with Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot inspector stamp dated 1882-83 and inked with soldiers name “Phil V. Johnson Troop A”.  Yellow facings with minor fading, tunic in overall very good condition with no holes or damage.

Model 1885 Cavalry Enlisted Overcoat, interior with Philadelphia Quartermaster inspector stamp dated 1898 and inked “Phil”.  Yellow cape inked “Phil V. Johnson Troop A No 3”.  Coat shows some dirty areas and a few small holes.

Enlisted 5 Button Tunic, unlined as manufactured,  one interior breast pocket. Tunic show scattered small holes, but nothing distracting.

Model 1875 Cavalry Belt with brass sword hanger. Leather is a bit dry but still pliable.

Model 1881 Cavalry Dress Helmet with wool breast cords. Eagle plate with number “3” mounted on its shield. In very good condition with some wear and staining on the leather sweatband.

Model 1899 Screen Vent Campaign Hat with 3rd Cavalry Troop A insignia on the front. The wool body has a tear at the rear crease, the silk band is tattered and the coated cloth sweatband shows moderate wear.

Beaver fur hat marked on the interior crown “A Bishop & Co Chicago” in very good condition.

Bear Skin Gauntlets with quilted black cotton lining,  the fingers showing some wear.

Bear Skin Gauntlets, leather showing white discoloration.
