Near Mint Nazi Party Ortsgruppe Level Overseas Cap

$600.00

A scarce piece of Third Reich headgear: the golden brown cotton overseas cap of an official of the Nazi Party, this cap being piped in light blue for the Ortsgruppe level on the front of the scalloped side panel and around the crown. The side panel is stitched to the cap on each side at the uppermost corners of the scallop. The front of the cap displays the metal model 1931 pattern political cap eagle and, beneath it, the 1935 pattern enamel cockade. The interior of the cap is lined with golden brown polished cotton, with a tapered leather sweat band panel in the front of the cap. The cap lining bears a size stamp of “55”. The exterior of the cap is extremely clean and the interior shows no evidence that the cap was ever worn. There are no interior stitching holes to indicate that this cap ever had an RZM tag and, given the fact that is shows no signs of use, the cap was likely produced before the RZM tags were being routinely placed into NSDAP party headgear. The only “flaw” to the cap is a single tiny hole, much smaller than a pencil eraser, on the bottom edge of the cap. The cap is just a splendid example of a very uncommon piece of political headgear and in truly impressive condition.
