Named WWII U.S. Navy Aviator’s Tunic

$150.00

The tunic is that of a Lieutenant j.g., and the interior pocket tag is named to “F.G. Schlereth” and it appears to be dated in 1945. The Navy Register indicates that this was “Frank G Schlereth”, with service number 320331, with a beginning service date of 15 July, 1942. When he registered for the draft he listed Campbell’s Soup as his employer, and the 1950 Census shows him as ” Food Inspector Soup Factory.” The tunic bears a bullion U.S. Navy Aviator wing which shows typical age toning. Below the wing is a two place, screw back, plastic covered ribbon bar with the ribbons for the Purple Heart and the European Campaign Medal. Below this is a pin back two place ribbon bar with the ribbons for the Pacific Campaign Medal with two campaign stars and the American Campaign Medal. The tunic shows storage dust but it is without holes or damage and it makes an excellent appearance.
