Named WWII U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces Gunner’s Uniforms Group
$295.00
The group is comprised of two complete uniforms (jumpers and trousers) as well as a third jumper; five white “Dixie Cup” caps; a seaman’s blue wool cap with “U.S. Navy” cap tally; and a pair of khaki gaiters (indicating that at some point the sailor served as a member of a Shore Police detail). One of the jumpers was fitted with a vertical side zipper on the left seam which is fully functional. This jumper has an Amphibious Forces shoulder patch on the left shoulder; a Seaman’s branch white stripe around the right shoulder; and a Gunner specialty mark patch on the lower right sleeve. The second jumper also has an Amphibious Forces shoulder patch on the left shoulder; the rate of Gunner’s Mate, Second Class, on the right sleeve; and a “Ruptured Duck” discharge emblem on the right breast. The group contains a third jumper which has no insignia of any kind. Most all of the uniform pieces and the white “Dixie Cup”caps bear the name stencil of “Rockefeller R J” (although, curiously, three of the white caps are stenciled with “Rockefeller J R”. The wool uniforms are quite dusty from storage but they are without holes or stains. The “U.S. Navy” seaman’s wool cap is flat from storage and it is also quite dusty, but without holes or damage. The five white “Dixie Cup” caps show spots and soiling.
