Named WWII U.S. Army Officer Fine Quality Wool Overcoat Size 40 Long
$100.00
The olive wool double breasted officer overcoat is in excellent condition, without holes, damage or repairs. All buttons are present, as is the integral rear belt. The full silken interior lining is intact. The shoulders bear the rank insignia of a Lieutenant Colonel. The overcoat has the label of a military clothier in Washington, D.C., and an interior pocket label is named to “E.R. Needles” as well as his service number. The name on the label presumably indicates Enoch Ray Needles (1888–1972), a prominent civil engineer and founding partner of the major engineering and architecture firm HNTB. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as Chief of the Redistribution and Salvage Branch (later Division) within the Readjustment Division in Washington, D.C., overseeing the management and disposal of military construction equipment. The overcoat is in excellent condition.
