Named WWII Office of Strategic Services Officer ETO Jacket

The olive green wool waist length jacket is in the “ETO” style, with two upper breast pockets as well as two slash pockets on the sides. On the lower left sleeve are four overseas service chevrons. On the left shoulder is the arc of a Special Reconnaissance Battalion of the Officer of Strategic Services. Below this is a theater made silk and bullion patch of the Chinese Commandos. On the right shoulder is the patch of the Airborne Command. The interior lining of the jacket has two interior pockets, each of which bears a tailor label that is named to “Lt. Rickerson”, this being Lieutenant, and later Captain, Roy Kirby Rickerson, who served with the Office of the Strategic Services in the 2671st Special Reconnaissance Battalion in both France and in China. The jacket is accompanied by a notebook of documentation relating to the wartime service of Rickerson, together with a copy of “The Trading Post”, the journal of the American Society of Military Insignia Collectors. This issue contains an article on O.S.S. insignia by noted collector and authority Les Hughes, and this article includes a photograph of this exact ETO jacket of Rickerson. The jacket is in exceptionally clean condition, without holes, damage or repairs, and it makes a very impressive appearance.
