Named WWII / Korean War U.S. Navy Medals and Ribbons Group

$275.00

The group is comprised of the full size medals, the miniature medals, and the ribbons of Joseph Homer Tetrault, who enlisted in the United States Navy in 1937, reenlisting in 1941, and ultimately rising to the rank of Commander, retiring in 1967. On December 7, 1941, Tetrault was serving as a Store Keeper, First class, on the Navy ammunition ship USS Kilauea. The group includes the following medals:

– A bar mounted set of medals with the U.S. Navy Good Conduct Medal, officially hand engraved “Joseph Homer Tetrault 1941”, with the bar for “Second Award”; the American Defense Medal with “Fleet” clasp; the American Campaign Medal; the European Campaign Medal; and the Pacific Campaign Medal, with the American Campaign Medal showing some slight fading of the ribbon.

– Full size examples of the World War II Victory Medal with a crimp brooch suspension; the Korean War Campaign Medal with a crimp brooch suspension; and the United Nations Medal for Korea with a crimp brooch suspension.

– A mounted set of six miniature medals, these being the five medals in the full size mounted group as well as a miniature world War II Victory Medal.

– Two clutch fastener ribbon bars with the ribbons for the U.S. Navy Good Conduct Medal with star; the American Defense Medal with the “A” device for the Atlantic “Fleet” clasp; the American Campaign Medal; the European Campaign Medal; and the Pacific Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

– Two sets of embroidered ribbons, one on blue wool and one set on khaki, with the sets being almost identical sets of 10 ribbons, except that one set includes the ribbon for the National Defense Medal while the other set, instead of that ribbon, includes the ribbon for the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

– The group also includes a single piece of Taiwan made insignia, presumably being an equivalent rank insignia for the Navy of the Republic of China.

The medals group is accompanied by a page of research on Joseph Homer Tetrault, providing his dates of enlistments and ranks.
