Named WWII 8th Air Force DFC Medal Group with Soldier’s Medal

The group is comprised of the medals of Army Air Force Technical Sergeant Philip Suskind, to include the Distinguished Flying Cross, slot brooch suspension, officially hand engraved “T. Sgt. Philip Suskind A.C.”; the Air Medal, full wrap brooch suspension; the Soldier’s Medal, slot brooch suspension, officially hand engraved “T. Sgt. Philip Suskind A.C.”; the Army Good Conduct Medal, unnamed as awarded; the European Campaign Medal, slot brooch suspension; and the World War II Victory Medal, slot brooch suspension. All of the medals are in excellent condition.

Suskind served in the 489th Bomb Squadron of the 340th Bomb Group. Records of the Group available online show that Suskind received eight oak leaf clusters on his Air Medal and that the award of the Soldier’s Medal was made in May of 1945.
