Named WWII 82nd Airborne Division Artillery Uniform with Cap and Lighter
$475.00
The uniform group is comprised of the “Ike” Jacket, matching trousers, wool shirt, overseas cap, and a post-war Zippo lighter with the 82nd Airborne Division insignia on it. The interior of the overseas cap bears the written name of “Smyzer”. Both the shirt and the trousers have the laundry mark of “S2262”.
The Ike jacket is tagged as a size 34 Regular, with a Philadelphia Quartermaster tag inside the interior pocket. The collar of the jacket has two sets of clutch back collar disks, with the upper collar having “U.S.” disks and the lapels bearing artillery branch disks. On the left shoulder is a one piece 82nd Airborne Division shoulder patch, while the left breast has the red oval of the 82nd Airborne Division artillery. The oval bears a sterling, pin back paratrooper wing. The jacket also has on it the fourragères of the Belgian and the French Croix de Guerre decorations. The jacket is quite clean, without stains or holes, and it makes an excellent appearance. The olive drab wool enlisted ranks shirt is tagged as a size 15-32. On the left shoulder of the shirt is a two piece 82nd Airborne Division shoulder patch, while the left breast of the shirt also has the red oval of the 82nd Airborne Division artillery. This oval also bears a sterling, pin back paratrooper wing. The shirt has a small hole in the right pocket, but otherwise it is quite clean. The olive drab wool trousers are tagged as a size 30-31. The interior has a Quartermaster contract tag, and the trousers are very clean, without stains or holes. The overseas cap is olive drab gabardine wool, piped in red for the artillery branch. The left front exhibits the patch of the paratrooper and glider airborne forces. The interior shows signs of actual wear. The Zippo lighter was likely acquired by the paratrooper as a veteran.
